Alfa Romeo Stelvio

On board every Alfa Romeo car, drivers have always enjoyed the best technology applied to a priceless technical heritage, and the unrivalled, thrilling driving experience offered by every one of the brand's creations. Choosing Giulia or Stelvio means refusing to compromise between solutions derived from a driver-centered approach and the maximum comfort, in the widest sense of the term. According to Alfa Romeo, expressing comfort means making every experience on board the sedan or SUV pleasant, well organized and safe: so getting on board Giulia and Stelvio, and settling into the front or rear seats, offers stimuli that build up an all-embracing yet dynamic comfort zone, in a harmony of safety, quality and speed.

This philosophy has guided every step of the development of the updated Giulia and Stelvio, which with MY 2020 evolve in three aspects complementary to their widely revered engines: their state-of-the-art technical solutions, their handling, which matures into a driving experience, setting the benchmark in their respective categories, and their distinctively Italian design. The quality of the interiors and the on-board technology now achieve the same levels of excellence, thanks to the new ADAS systems, the autonomous driving (now level 2), the new, completely upgraded infotainment system with connected services, and the redesigned human-machine interface.

New infotainment

The driver-car relationship created on board Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio is symbiotic, thanks to direct steering, handling with undisputed best-in-class status, impeccable weight distribution and a sincere, thrilling vehicle response in every situation. These are the distinctive technical characteristics tailored to ensure a dialogue of pure emotion with the driver, on roads of all kinds. For full, unmitigated enjoyment of a completely absorbing driving experience, with a unique blend of passion and safety, the driver-vehicle interaction must be total. So with the new Giulia and Stelvio MY2020, the HMI evolves to a higher level, superlatively simple, user-friendly and intuitive.

For a start, the cars offer the new 7" TFT screen in the heart of the instrument cluster, within eye range, as standard. The screen layout has been redesigned to offer more information in a more rational way, and to accommodate the autonomous driving technology parameters.

The 8.8" central display receives a substantial upgrade, becoming touchscreen and adopting an all-new layout with optimized graphics based on widgets (graphic components designed to interact intuitively with all functions and customizable to meet individual needs via just drag and drop). This means every user can create their own homepage, in which each of the vehicle's functions becomes an app. So just horizontal scrolling calls up the access screens for Alfa DNA, radio, media, smartphone, navigator, climate control, connected services and ADAS. Interaction is thus is complete and customized, and to use it the driver can choose between the rotary knob or the touchscreen function.

Alfa Connect Services

The new Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio MY2020 are equipped with Alfa Connect Services, the tool that delivers advanced on-board connectivity and a set of services to boost safety and comfort.

There are many packages available: My Assistant offers an SOS call that enables the occupant to send a request for assistance to the call center, with the vehicle's position and identification code, via the SOS button on the dome light unit, the radio command or the mobile app, in case of collision or emergency. In the event of an accident, the call is sent automatically. In cases of vehicle breakdown, a call can be sent to the roadside assistance service, including the vehicle's coordinates, to accelerate the arrival of help. The call can be activated using the Assist button on the dome light unit, or by pressing the radio display command or through the user's smartphone app. Drivers can also directly contact Customer Care to request support, using the above procedures. The package also includes a report service, which keeps customers updated on their Alfa Romeo's health via monthly reports sent by email. My Remote comprises a variety of services enabling remote control of several vehicle functions (door locking/unlocking, light flashing) via smartphone/smartwatch, communication with the Alexa or Google Home voice assistance systems, location of the vehicle, and monitoring of specific parameters (speed and area), with alerts if the set limits are not complied with.

My Car enables owners to keep their car's health and parameters under constant control.

My Navigation comprises applications for remote search for destination and Points of Interest (POI) and real-time traffic, weather and speed camera alerts. The package also includes the Send & Go service, enabling the driver to send their destination via navigator, directly from their smartphone or the web portal. Not to mention the My Wi-Fi service, allowing the Internet connection to be shared between up to 8 on-board devices, My Theft Assistance, which alerts the owner of any attempt to steal the car, or My Fleet Manager, intended for fleet management. Many of these tools will be available at the launch, while the complete offer will be expanded and completed during 2020.

Quality in the new interiors

Alfa Romeo's Italian style has a deceptive simplicity that conceals the complex production process involved in its design: achieving the ergonomic, attractive combination of lines and instruments, volumes and spaces that surround the driver starting from a blank sheet of paper is a complex, task requiring great precision, but improving an interior tailor-made for occupants is an even greater challenge. Care, research and a contemporary vision have enabled quality to be enhanced through targeted, substantial changes: new central console, completely restyled to accommodate larger, more accessible storage compartments, as well as the new wireless charger function. The gear stick is also new, with a leather cladding and luminous highlights making it good to look at as well as pleasing to the touch. At the base of the selector, a signature in the Italian flag colors. Last but not least, the rotary knob that controls the infotainment gives the sensation of precision and solidity at every touch. The steering wheel deserves a chapter all to itself: every trim has unique materials and details, multiple expressions of driver satisfaction, continually encouraging him to keep on driving, to caress the choice perforated or plain leather, and admire the alternating glossy and chromed highlights. Obviously, it has also been restyled to accommodate the functions relative to the autonomous driving devices.

Last but not least, the 7" TFT screen in the instrument cluster and the 8.8" touchscreen display with redesigned graphic layout, standard throughout the range.

Level 2 autonomous driving

The new MY2020 Giulia and Stelvio mark the debut of a full set of ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) that enable the vehicles to deliver the highest level of autonomous driving with the perfect balance between driving pleasure and assistance systems. The outcome is in level 2, achieved by definition when the driver can leave the car to control the accelerator, brake and steering in specific conditions, via electronic systems that require continual monitoring by the driver but support him to offer him greater comfort on long journeys. In all cases, the driver must be constantly vigilant and always keep his hands on the steering wheel.

The main enabling technologies present on the MY2020 are as follows:

  • Lane Keeping Assist: detects if the vehicle is drifting out of its lane without activation of the direction indicator and alerts the driver visually and by touch. It actively intervenes to return the vehicle to its lane.
  • Active Blind Spot Assist: monitors the rear blind spots to flag up any approaching vehicles and correct the steering to avoid a collision if necessary.
  • Active Cruise Control: automatically adjusts the vehicle's speed in order to maintain a safe distance from the vehicles ahead. In cooperation with the road sign recognition system, it allows the speed set to be regulated in relation to speed limits, for more relaxing driving.
  • Traffic Sign Recognition and Intelligent Speed Control: the system uses the on-board camera, recognizes road signs and shows them on the display, and alerts the driver to the current speed limit. It then advises the driver to adjust the speed to that read by the system: if the driver agrees, the cruise control will be automatically set to the new speed limits.
  • Traffic Jam Assist and Highway Assist: in addition to the Active Cruise Control, these systems also supervise lateral steering, keeping the car in the middle of the lane in heavy traffic (Traffic Jam Assistant) or on the motorway (Highway Assist), and also regulating the speed on the basis of the current speed limits.
  • Driver Attention Assist: monitors the driver for drowsiness and alerts him if necessary.

A new range structure

Such a rich, state-of-the-art offering inevitably demanded a new range structure to express all the emotional overtones typical of Alfa Romeo models with rationality and clear identities, also by referencing historic names.

It is therefore very easy for customers to find their way around the Giulia and Stelvio world and choose the model that best reflects their needs and personality. Immediately above the baseline models is the Super trim, which provides the basis for the Business versions, intended for fleets. The range then evolves in the direction of even greater typically Italian elegance and exclusiveness with the Ti version, bearing the historic initials of "Turismo Internazionale", a name that has always denoted the richest models, or towards sportiness with the Sprint, Veloce and, for Giulia, Veloce Ti trims.

The new Quadrifoglio MY2020 trim will become available during the course of 2020.

Alfa Romeo Giulia

Every trim has its own distinctive characterization: for Giulia the basic version has 16" wheels and fabric interiors, which for the Super version are new and come together with 17" alloy wheels, also a distinguishing feature of the Business versions. The Ti offers 18" wheels, wooden inserts and choice quality leather seats, to meet the expectations of those seeking luxury and sophistication as well as sporty performance. The attractive and sporty Sprint trim offers leather and fabric upholstery, 18" wheels and aluminum inserts, while Veloce has its own specific sporty leather seats. There are no compromises on board the Veloce Ti: 19" wheels, carbon inserts and leather and Alcantara® seats.

In more detail, at the access level of the Giulia world there is a choice of two powerplants: 2.0 petrol providing 200 HP and 2.2 turbodiesel with 136 HP, both rear-wheel drive and with automatic transmission. As well as the new 8.8" Multitouch display and 7" TFT instrument cluster, the standard package also features the Autonomous Emergency Brake, Lane Departure Warning and Cruise Control driving assistance systems. The Super trim is also available with the 160 and 190 HP diesel engines, and has Xenon headlights and rear parking sensors. There are also four powerplant options for the Business trim, which offers Active Cruise Control and compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Ti delivers exclusive elegance, with wooden inserts and fine leather on the dashboard and on the heated seats with electric adjustment, a split rear bench, chromed window frames and aluminum pedals. Dark Miron details are the distinctive features of the Sprint trim, together with a sporty steering wheel that reflects its personality. The names Veloce and Veloce Ti, amongst the most iconic for Alfa Romeo, identify the most sporty Giulia trims, characterized by powerful 280 HP petrol and 210 HP engines with all-wheel drive, and equipped with sporty seats and Dark Miron and carbon fiber details.

Alfa Romeo Stelvio

Stelvio offers 17" wheels and fabric seats, 18" wheels and new finishes on Super and Business, and 19" wheels, wooden inserts and fine leather on both seats and dashboard in the Ti trim. The Ti is further distinguished by its new elegant, contrasting Dark Miron color (or Vesuvio Grey as an alternative) on the side skirts, wheel arches and rear bumper, for a two-tone effect that recalls the historic 164 model.

Sportiness is expressed in the Sprint trim by 19" wheels, aluminum inserts and leather and fabric seats, and culminates in the Veloce version with 20" wheels, aluminum inserts and sporty leather seats.

In more detail, at the access level of the Stelvio world there is a choice of two powerplants with automatic transmission: 2.0 petrol providing 200 HP with all-wheel drive, and 2.2 turbodiesel of 160 HP with rear-wheel drive. As standard, the trim offers the new 8.8" Multitouch display, the new 7" TFT instrument cluster, the Autonomous Emergency Brake, Lane Departure Warning and Cruise Control driving assistance systems and rear parking sensors.

Alfa Romeo Stelvio Super adds to this offering with the 190 HP 2.2 turbodiesel engine, also with all-wheel drive, and Xenon 35W adaptive headlights. The same powerplants (except the rear-wheel drive 190 HP) are offered on the Business trim, which includes features essential for use of the SUV for work, including Active Cruise Control, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility and a second USB port at the rear. On Ti, 2.0 petrol engines of 200 and 280 HP and diesel engines of 160, 190 and 210 HP, together with contents that reflect the trim's exclusive personality, including leather seats and dashboard, wooden inserts, chromed window frames, aluminum pedals, steering wheels and air vents and heated seats with 8-way electric adjustment. The Sprint trim's sporty character is expressed through the leather steering wheel, black brake calipers, Dark Miron details on the badges, the "V" of the cloverleaf, the tailpipes and the skid plate, and the 200 HP petrol and 160 and 190 HP diesel engines. The Veloce is even more powerful, with 280 HP petrol and 210 HP diesel engines and new, exclusive stylistic details: as well as the specific use of Dark Miron that characterizes Stelvio's sporty attitude, the Veloce features exclusive new details colored to match the bodywork, including the lower band of the rear mudguard, the wheel arch and the side skirts. Inside, heated sporty leather seats with 6-way electric adjustment and aluminum details.

Colors define emotions, keeping faith with tradition

When he closes his eyes every motorist, and even every future motorist from a very early age, images the object of his desires in the color that best reflects his personality. Handling qualities are a passion requiring greater maturity and technical knowledge, and technological contents belong to a more rational sphere, but gleaming paintwork speaks to the imagination and makes a lasting impression on the memory, especially if it defines perfect proportions and dynamic shapes with taut lines leading to the legendary cloverleaf on the front.

Therefore, the Alfa Romeo designers have also evolved the approach to color, with an even more emotional strategy that groups paintwork colors by class and not simply by technology. There are four categories: Competizione, with obvious references to the brand's sporty tradition; Metal, which emphasizes the brand's dynamic soul; Solid, for those in search of accessible value; and Old Timer, which evokes and interprets the Alfa Romeo heritage.

The Competizione range comprises the attractive Trofeo White and Competizione Red tricoat paints.

The Metal shades, on the other hand, include Visconti Green (new for Giulia), Vesuvio Grey, Stromboli Grey, Silverstone Grey, Vulcano Grey, Misano Blue and Montecarlo Blue, as well as the new Anodizzato Blue and Lunare White.

The Solid range comprises White, Alfa Red and Black (exclusive to Giulia).

Concluding, the new Old Timer colors are the exciting Junior GT Ochre and the refined Villa d'Este 6C Red, available from mid-2020.

Mopar® for the new Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio MY2020

Mopar®, the brand that boasts over 80 years of tradition, experience and in-depth knowledge of the needs of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles customers, accompanies Alfa Romeo and its customers throughout their motoring experience, providing technical services and support for their performance, safety and customization-related needs. Pursuing this mission, it has created a host of realizations and customizations: for Giulia, the brand played a primary role in the front grille, the mirror caps and the carbon rear spoiler, the illuminated carbon kick plates, the valve caps customized with the Alfa Romeo logo, the special design 18" alloy wheels, the head restraint tablet holder and the red and white key covers: for Stelvio, the 20" four-spoke grey alloy wheels and a special Matt Miron color line, the front grille, the mirror caps and the rear bumper skid plate. The offering is completed by the coat hooks for fixing to the head restraint and the specific grey and blue key covers.

In short, the new Giulia and Stelvio MY2020 will be made even more exquisite and special by the Authentic Accessories developed by Mopar. These top-quality products all perfectly match the technical and style features of the various models, enabling full customization. This is because each accessory is developed jointly with the original engineering platforms of each car. For the Misano Blue Alfa Romeo Stelvio Veloce, Mopar has opted for the "Carbon Pack" with carbon accessories, including the front grille and rearview mirror caps, velvet mats with red stitching, tablet holder incorporated in the head restraints and 20" alloy wheels. At the international press launch, Giulia MY2020 will be on parade in the Sprint trim and Moonlight Pearl paintwork, enhanced by the exclusive Matt Miron style kit, comprising the "V" of the front insert, the mirror caps, the diffuser and the rear spoiler. On the inside, the specific coat hook and mats with stitching in red, like the "Giulia" signature.

Leasys

Leasys is the company of the FCA Bank Group that develops and provides innovative mobility services for private individuals, self-employed professionals and companies of all sizes. Leasys's offering includes short/medium/long-term car rental services, peer-to-peer sharing services between individuals through U-Go and car subscription with Leasys CarCloud, meeting all mobility needs, from one hour to a lifetime. The company was established in 2001 and, starting in 2017, it has been expanding its footprint in Europe. Today, Leasys has operations in Spain, France, United Kingdom, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands, serving over 70,000 customers with a fleet of more than 280,000 vehicles, and expects to develop a presence in 13 European countries with a fleet of about 450,000 vehicles by 2021. In June 2019, it opened the Leasys Mobility Stores, covering extensively the Italian territory. The stores, where customers can access all the mobility services, will be shortly available also in the European countries where Leasys is operational.

I-Link by Leasys: your "Personal Car Sharing"

In the wake of the success of U-Go by Leasys, introduced at the launch of Alfa Romeo Giulietta MY2020 in April, Leasys and FCA Bank introduced I-Link by Leasys, in connection with the launch of new Alfa Romeo Stelvio and Giulia MY20, a service designed to strengthen the link between Alfa Romeo customers and the new forms of shared mobility. The past few years have witnessed the growing popularity of the concepts of disownership - the consumer's wish to use products and services on an ongoing basis without owning them - and sharing economy, where customers can share a product when they do not use it. I-Link by Leasys is intended to fulfil the needs arising from these trends for those Alfa Romeo customers who are inclined to share and are looking for new, intelligent, innovative and, most of all, technological mobility solutions that offer much more than just cost savings. The sharing economy world is taking on new nuances, sharing has not only a public target but also a private one, made up of people who are part of their own limited circle as friends and family. Through the messaging app, like WhatsApp, Messenger or Viber, people create groups to share their experiences, their emotions, their lives, but only with the people they choose. I-Link is based on the same principle: sharing the car with a small community of people, not with everyone. In fact, with I-Link Leasys customers can share their vehicle with friends and relatives up to a maximum of ten people, without the need to hand over keys, thanks to the use of a dedicated app, which can geolocate, open, start and lock the vehicle. Thanks to I-Link the player, the car rental accountholder, can create his own personal community, exactly like a WhatsApp group, and he is able to share also the monthly car rental payment with the community members, the users. Indeed, based on the use of the vehicle, the app will calculate the amount that every member owes to the player that rented the car from Leasys. After they have registered, members can spot the vehicle through geolocation, reserve it based on the availability and open it by placing their smartphone near it and entering their PIN, thus dispensing with the handover of the keys. Lastly, members will be able to utilize the related data through their use of the vehicle on the app. I-Link by Leasys, your "Personal Car Sharing". Create your community and share freely your Alfa Romeo with whomever you want. I-Link will be provided as an additional service to Leasys' long-term car rental solutions, real alternative to vehicle and fleet ownership. Against a fixed monthly fee, the long-term rental formula allows you to have a vehicle, or a fleet, in a constant state of efficiency, without the management, administrative and maintenance costs traditionally linked to ownership. The advantages of long-term rental are: no initial investment, no unexpected expenses, no risk of devaluation and no loss of time. I-Link by Leasys will be launched in Italy in March 2020 and in 2020 it will be introduced also in the other countries in which Leasys is operational.

Marelli and the new infotainment system

With its interactive station, Marelli provides an impressive demonstration of the new 8.8" Alfa Romeo 3d connect touch. This new-generation infotainment system offers a sophisticated series of features and functions, including a next-generation HMI human-machine interface, with high resolution 8.8" TOUCH display integrated in the dashboard design that combines with the Rotary Pad to allow easy, intuitive control of the system. Inside the display, two levels of widgets are offered, one to customize the interface and the other for direct access to the functions at just a touch. In addition, thanks to "optical bonding" technology, the user benefits from an excellent level of visualization and readability on the display. Featuring a new advanced voice recognition system, which also allows the use Free Text Search for navigation, the new infotainment system enables full connectivity with all mobile devices (cell phones, smartphones and tablets with Apple iOS and Android operating system) also via the Apple CarPlayTM, Android AutoTM and (in some Asian countries such as China) BAIDU CarlifeTM. Climate Control (HVAC) functions are now usable directly from the touch display, and in the new version the Infotainment System also provides information regarding technical performance, Alfa DNA pro asset management and driving performance statistics.

Unrivalled safety and comfort thanks to Bosch

For the new Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio MY2020, Bosch has developed the traffic jam assist, highway assist, intelligent speed control, lane keeping assist, active blind spot assist and traffic sign recognition ADAS functions, in addition to the automatic emergency brake, adaptive cruise control and lane departure warning functions already present. The Bosch traffic jam assist and highway assist systems control the vehicle's longitudinal and lateral position, acting on its acceleration, braking and steering. The result is partial autonomous driving (SAE level 2) on both straights and bends, for safer, more comfortable travel. Bosch implemented the logic of these new functions, made possible thanks mainly to the combined operation of a medium-range front radar, a video camera and an electric power steering unit, all components supplied by Bosch for both models.

Alcantara®: the ideal blend of elegance and sportiness

Alfa Romeo has chosen Alcantara® to combine elegant interiors with the Giulia and Stelvio DNA: an association between two prestige brands which began in the 1990s and has been consolidated as an embodiment of the best Italian design, technology and the latest lifestyle choices.

The new Giulia and Stelvio MY2020, Alcantara is applied to the central part of the seats in the Veloce Ti set-up, providing the driver with greater stability in the case of lateral accelerations, and therefore precision when cornering. With its breathability, wear-resistance and above all its perfect adherence, Alcantara® is the upholstery of choice for all the parts of cars such as the Alfa Romeo that demand the highest technical performance materials and also supreme comfort. The presence of Alcantara® ensures a premium interior featuring elegance, charm and contemporary style. The pleasurable touch of the material transforms the journey into a unique sensory and tactile experience.
