Opel Corsa OPC
The Opel Corsa OPC is a statement of pure driving fun. Since its launch in 2007, 13,000 units have already been sold. Eye-catching styling is backed by breathtaking performance from a 141 kW/192 hp turbo engine and a Sport Chassis set-up honed on the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

This ultimate expression of the Opel Corsa range's dynamic appeal is a muscular car that now delivers a searing pace with fuel consumption reduced by 7.6 percent and CO2 emissions lowered by 9.5 percent. Performance is not affected by these changes. The lower fuel bills let Opel Corsa OPC drivers enjoy the fun even longer, increasing the range by about 50 kilometers. This year, the OPC Team has upgraded the powertrain and improved the steering system to add more feel to the excitement on offer.
Packing a punch: Zero to 100 in 7.2 seconds
The 1.6-liter (141 kW/192 hp) turbo engine at the heart of the Opel Corsa OPC catapults it from zero to 100 km/h in just 7.2 seconds, while generating a tidal wave of torque that delivers even more impressive performance. It is super-efficient, boasting a class-leading specific power rating of 120 hp per liter.
Maximum torque of 230 Nm is generated from 1,980 rpm all the way to 5,850 rpm, and it is temporarily raised even higher, to 266 Nm, by an automatic overboost function. Such pulling power delivers effortless performance. The transition from 80 to 120 km/h in fifth gear, for example, takes just 6.7 seconds. Top speed is 225 km/h and a six-speed gearbox comes as standard.
The Opel Corsa OPC has been reworked to offer greater frugality. Combined cycle fuel consumption is cut by 7.6 percent to 7.3 l/100 km. Carbon dioxide emissions, from 190 to 172 g/km, are reduced by 9.5 percent. The gains have been achieved by optimizing the engine calibration to meet Euro 5 emissions standards. To help drivers optimize fuel economy even while driving a powerful car, a 'shift up' indicator light has been added to the main instrument display.
Improved steering for better control
OPC engineers continually improve their products; and their latest focus has been on the steering. The Electric Power Steering (EPS) has been tuned to give the driver more precise control. The yoke carrying the steering rack is now lined with a low friction material which improves feel and precision for inputs around the on-center position. The software controlling the electric motor has also been remapped, providing slightly more power assistance for small steering inputs and a better torque build up at higher steering angles.
The rest of the Opel Corsa OPC's sports chassis remains untouched after having gone through intensive test driving on the Nürburgring Nordschleife where Opel Performance Center technicians optimized handling agility and body control. Key OPC modifications include a stronger rear axle beam, re-tuned springs and dampers, a stiffer front anti-roll bar and a ride height 10 mm lower than the regular Corsa sport chassis. The standard Electronic Stability Control (ESC) has also been adjusted to match the car's sporty character.
Stopping power is in line with performance. The large 16-inch brake system, with blue brake calipers, includes internally ventilated 308 mm disk brakes up front and 264 mm solid discs at the rear. The 17-inch alloy wheels with 215/45 R17 tires come as standard and 18-inch rims with 225 tires are optional.
Eye-catching looks
Based exclusively in the coupé-like, three-door Corsa body, the OPC visual treatment features unique front and rear styling, including distinctive gills, sculpted side sills and a deep rear roof spoiler. Other OPC-specific elements, such as the door mirrors, Y-spoke alloy wheels and the rear diffuser with a central triangular tailpipe, reinforce the performance-focused character of the car.
The cabin, color coordinated with the exterior, also makes a strong performance statement. Superb, shell-like Recaro sports seats, with integrated head restraints and side airbags, provide optimal support and come as standard. Chrome-ringed instruments with red pointers, a center console finished in piano black lacquer, a flat-bottomed, sports leather steering wheel and aluminum pedals all add to the performance-orientated ambience.
