Dacia Duster

Shockingly affordable... On the market since 2010 at a city car price, the Dacia Duster has shaken-up the SUV segment. A true revolution by Dacia! With over 1.9 million units sold, the Duster has been the No.1 in retail sales in its class in the Europe's SUV market since 2019.

Following on from earlier generations, the New Dacia Duster is aimed both at customers who are looking for a comfortable, attractively designed SUV and those who want a robust, versatile 4x4.

True to its heritage, the New Duster is still a family SUV with a trailblazer spirit. It is the companion for everyday use and for adventures in the wide-open spaces. Its timeless design has evolved, especially in respect of its lights and grille, which give it an even stronger personality, and improved CO2 efficiency.

Inside it is fitted with a high centre console with a retracting armrest, two multimedia systems with a new 8" screen and a dual-clutch automatic EDC gearbox. As versatile to drive as ever, the New Duster is available in 2WD and 4WD versions. The latest version boasts an enriched 4x4 Monitor system.

The New Dacia Duster will be on sale from September 2021.

STYLE WITH PURPOSE

Unveiled at its launch with the new Arizona Orange bodywork, the New Dacia Duster has a more contemporary design. This evolution in its styling serves a purpose though, by improving its aerodynamism for greater efficiency.

NEW FRONT END

The New Duster adopts the style features of the new Dacia visual identity first seen on the All-New Sandero, Sandero Stepway and Logan. New light units include Y-shaped daytime running lights, a new shape that inspired the 3D reliefs on the new chromed radiator grille. This more contemporary front end reinforces the New Duster's personality.

NEW LIGHT SIGNATURE

The always-on lighting at front (ECOLED type) and rear embodies the new Dacia light signature. The Dacia Duster is the first Dacia model to be equipped with front LED direction indicators. This technology is also used for the dipped headlights (with automatic main beam activation as standard) and the number plate lights. Apart from lower electricity consumption, the LEDs offer better lighting, day and night, providing better visibility for both the driver and other road users.

BETTER AERODYNAMICS AND EFFICIENCY

Thanks to the joint efforts of designers and engineers, the aerodynamism advances in style. The design of the new rear spoiler and new 16 and 17" alloy rims have been tested in the wind tunnel. The set of CO2 optimizations (new wheel bearings and tires, LED lighting) including the drag area (SCx) allows a reduction of up to 5.8g of CO2 on the 4x4 version of the New Duster.

And as CO2 reduction goes hand in hand with lower fuel consumption, the improvement to the Duster's aerodynamics is a double benefit for customers.

A RE-VISITED PASSENGER COMPARTMENT

The New Duster improves the comfort of its occupants. Its more inviting passenger compartment is equipped with new upholstery, new headrests and a high centre console with a wide retracting armrest. It also offers two multimedia systems with a new 8" touchscreen.

MORE COMFORT

The upholstery for the seats on the New Dacia Duster is 100% new. The fabric and shape of the new headrest offer improved ergonomics and are easy to maintain. The latter's slim profile improves the visibility in the passenger compartment, for rear passengers looking to the front and vice versa.

The major new feature is the inclusion of a high centre console with a wide armrest that will retract 70 mm. It houses a closable, 1.1-litre storage compartment and two USB charging sockets for the rear passengers (available on some versions).

COMPREHENSIVE EQUIPMENT LEVEL

Whatever the finish level, the standard equipment includes an onboard computer screen, automatic main beam activation and a speed limiter with backlit controls on the steering wheel.

Automatic climate control with a digital display, cruise control with backlit controls on the steering wheel, heated front seats and a hands-free card are available on some versions.

A CHOICE OF TWO NEW MULTIMEDIA SYSTEMS

In addition to the Dacia Plug & Music audio equipment (radio, MP3, USB and Bluetooth), two new, easy-to-use multimedia systems are available: Media Display and Media Nav. The dashboard now includes a new 8" touchscreen.

With Media Display, the equipment includes 6 speakers (2 "boomer" speakers and 2 tweeters at the front), DAB radio, Bluetooth® connectivity, two USB ports and wired smartphone replication compatible with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto®. Specific controls on the steering wheel are used to activate voice recognition that allows the driver to control a smartphone iOS or Google assistant with their voice.

With Media Nav, the multimedia system is enriched by onboard navigation and Wi-Fi connectivity for Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto®.

The interface on Media Display and Media Nav has a Vehicle tab that is used to access economical driving information and, on the 4-wheel drive version, the 4x4 Monitor (altimeter, inclinometer, compass, etc.).

A TRUE SUV

True to its heritage, the Dacia Duster is an authentic SUV for family and off-road use. Its high ground clearance, new tyres and specific 4x4 Monitor (on the 4-wheel drive version) mean that it is at home on the road and off the beaten track.

DESIGNED FOR CAREFREE DRIVING

The New Duster is your everyday companion, both on and off the road. For carefree travel, it continues to offer real all-terrain features, in particular:

  • A ground clearance of 217 mm on the 2WD version and 214 mm on the 4x4.
  • A breakover angle of 21°.
  • An approach angle of 30°.
  • A departure angle of 34° on the 2WD version and 33° on the 4x4.

NEW TYPE OF TYRE FITTED TO ALL VERSIONS

The 2-wheel drive version of the New Duster is fitted with 'green' CO2-optimised tyres as standard, giving a 10% reduction in rolling resistance.

On the 4x4 version, the tyres meet the official 3PMSF requirements. The excellent grip that these provide means that winter tyres are no longer necessary.

AN ENRICHED 4X4 MONITOR

The 4x4 version equipped with Media Display or Media Nav also includes a 4x4 Monitor system that sends various types of information to the centre screen:

  • Lateral inclinometer: this shows the angle between the left and right-hand sides of the vehicle, which is useful when driving on uneven surfaces.
  • Pitch angle: this uses Hill Start Assist and Adaptive Hill Descent Control data to keep the driver informed during steep descents and climbs.
  • Compass: now available with the vehicle stationary, it helps to navigate using magnetic North and South.
  • Altimeter: the altitude is displayed on one part of the screen, the climb-descent log on the other part.

After driving off-road or in the mountains, the 4x4 Monitor displays a summary log of the journey.

MORE DRIVING PLEASURE, MORE EFFICIENCY

The engine range has been completely overhauled to combine driving pleasure with reduced CO2 emissions. The New Dacia Duster is now available with a 6-speed automatic EDC gearbox with the TCe 150 engine, whilst the capacity of the LPG tank on the ECO-G 100 version has been increased by 50%, or 49.8 litres.

AUTOMATIC EDC GEARBOX

The 2WD version of the New Duster now boasts a 6-speed automatic EDC gearbox combined with the TCe 150 engine. It offers the comfort and pleasure of an automatic gearbox whilst keeping fuel consumption and CO2 emissions close to those of a manual gearbox.

The EDC (Efficient Dual Clutch) gearbox has two clutches: one for the odd gears (1,3,5) and one for the even gears (2,4,6 and reverse). Gear changes are controlled via electric actuators which are, in turn, controlled by a computer that selects the ideal gear for the driver's requests. During a gear change, the engaged clutch opens at the same time as the clutch of the next gear closes. Gear changes are quick and the torque is transmitted continuously. No energy is lost and there is no engine stutter, resulting in greater efficiency and comfort.

The EDC system reduces the rotation of the engine by ensuring that the vehicle is in the highest gear possible for a given speed, thus controlling fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

EFFICIENT ENGINES

The New Duster has a complete range of Euro 6D Full engines designed for every use.

  • Diesel: dCi 115 (2WD or 4WD) combined with a 6-speed manual gearbox
  • Petrol:
    • TCe 90 (2WD) combined with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
    • TCe 130 (2WD) combined with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
    • TCe 150 (4WD) combined with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
    • TCe 150 (2WD) combined with a 6-speed automatic EDC gearbox
  • Bi-fuel (petrol-LPG): ECO-G 100 (2WD) combined with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

ECO-G 100: THE BI-FUELLED (PETROL-LPG) ENGINE BY DACIA

Dacia is the only manufacturer to offer the ECO-G bi-fuel (petrol-LPG) option across its entire range of internal combustion engine models. Factory fitting of this proven technology to the ECO-G 100 engine is a guarantee of safety and reliability. The length of the manufacturer's warranty, the services intervals and boot capacity are identical to the petrol-only version. The LPG tank is fitted beneath the floor of the boot, in place of the spare wheel.

When running on LPG, the New Duster ECO-G emits on average 9.5% CO2 less than an equivalent petrol engine. In addition, it offers a range of 1 235 km thanks to its two tanks with the combined useful supply of almost 100 litres: 50 litres of petrol and 50 litres of LPG (total contents: 62 litres). The useful supply of LPG is up by 16.2 litres compared with the previous generation of the Duster LPG, increasing the range by over 250 km.

Behind the wheel, the switch between fuels is immediate and imperceptible. The new petrol-LPG switch is more ergonomic and better integrated can be operated manually by the driver at any time. The switch to petrol occurs automatically if the LPG tank is empty.

The 3.5" TFT onboard computer screen informs the driver of the fuel level in each of the 2 tanks.

With Dacia, LPG combines ease of use, driving pleasure, reduced CO2 emissions and a great range.

In some countries, bi-fuel petrol-LPG cars are encouraged or enjoy tax breaks - which translate as low fuel prices at the pumps, no green penalties and access to restricted areas.

USEFUL TECHNOLOGY FOR OPTIMISED SAFETY

In addition to the speed limiter and the latest-generation ESC, supplied as standard, and cruise control from the steering wheel (optional, depending on the finish), the New Dacia Duster has many driver-assistance systems (ADAS).

BLIND SPOT WARNING

Operating between 30 km/h and 140 km/h, the Blind spot warning warns the driver of a potential collision with another vehicle present in the blind spot. Four ultrasonic sensors (2 fitted at the rear of the vehicle and 2 at the front) detect moving vehicles - including 2-wheelers - in the blind spot. If there is a vehicle in this area, an LED indicator lights up on the appropriate door mirror. If the direction indicator is switched on when there is a vehicle in the blind spot, the LED on the mirror flashes.

PARK ASSIST

Four ultrasonic sensors fitted to the rear bumper activate an audible signal during manoeuvres. Depending on the version, they can be accompanied by a display from a rear camera with dynamic guidelines on the central screen and visual warnings on the approach of an obstacle.

HILL START ASSIST

When setting off again after stopping on a slope, this feature prevents the vehicle from rolling backwards for more than two seconds once the driver takes their foot off the brake pedal, thus giving them the time to press the accelerator pedal.

ADAPTIVE HILL DESCENT CONTROL (4X4 VERSION)

Particularly useful when driving off-road or on steep descents, this system, which is controlled from the dashboard, operates on the brakes to prevent the vehicle running away and ensures an adaptive driving speed (matched to the driver's requests) of 5 to 30 km/h. It works in first gear and in reverse. The driver only has to think about the steering wheel and can forget the brake and accelerator pedals.

MULTIVIEW CAMERA

The Multiview camera system (four cameras: one at the front, one on each side and one at the rear of the vehicle) tell the driver about the environment around the vehicle. The side cameras fitted below the door mirrors show the front wheels directly to locate the vehicle accurately. This system is useful for parking manoeuvres or in tricky off-road situations. It activates instantly when reverse is engaged and manually via the MVC key on the piano control. The navigation screen displays one camera at a time. The camera changes angle automatically when a forward gear is engaged. The system is switched off via the MVC key or when the vehicle's speed exceeds 20 km/h.
