China Around Taklimakan Rally, established in 2005 in Xinjiang, is the most important international off-road rally event in China. Well known for the history of off-road vehicles, BAIC has been participating in the Taklimakan Rally for many years and BJ40 has been the championship in its category for four years from 2020 to 2023. Hence the BJ40 Taklimakan Rally Champion developed as a special edition of the series' highest-performance off-road vehicles for sale.

The 2024 China Around Taklimakan Rally marks the 20th anniversary of the event, which started from Kashgar in Xinjiang on May 20 and concluded in Aksu on June 1st, spanning 13 days in 9 stages with a total distance of 4,600 kilometers. BAIC attended the event with new BJ40 once again to challenge the T2 class. T2 class is the closest to mass-production status with totally same powertrain, chassis and main body structure. Hence the achievement of being the "first AT model to finish Taklimakan" and sub-championship in 6 out of the 9 stages.

The all-new BJ40 Around Taklimakan Champion Edition came into existence accordingly with the top level performance.

The off-road capability features a 4.0 high-speed ratio transfer case and front, center, and rear differential locks coming as standard. The performance is maximized in terms of powertrain, passability and getting out of trouble by professional chassis tuning with off-road AT tires, 11 ATS all-terrain modes and 12 gear crawl modes.

The safety performance features embedded metal roll cage with a torsional rigidity of 16,000 Nm and the reinforced chassis with three additional metal plates and protective coatings, as well as over 30 intelligent safety assists plus dual-redundant linear braking.

Intelligence and comfort performance are much optimized with multifunctional luxury seats, 12+1 ANC Harman sound system and optional front passenger seat as well as L2.5 ADS system.

The 400W high-power inverter comes standard with 2.5-ton towing capacity, providing a versatile and customizable lifestyle with a removable top cover and a variety of space reservations for scenarios.

The special identity is recognizable by exclusive exterior together with the Storm Grey matte paint, racing deco stripes and special badges.
